The June Flock

Apparently, spending 2 hours in a confined space, with 20 chirping, hatchling chickens is just delightful!

My daughter, the songbird, had to sing them to dreamland so that Nonnie and Papa wouldn't go batty on the long drive home from the hatchery. It mostly worked.

Originally, I planned to take a day off feom distance teaching to go pick them up myself. But apparently errrrrrbody and their mama is ordering chickies, so a June pickup it was. Unfortunately, I was busy writing curriculum on the day, so Nonnie and Papa to the rescue once again.

When they finally arrived home, the 20 babies settled in nicely to their old, wire, rabbit hutch: ten New Hampshire Reds, three Dominiques and four Frizzles.  I wanted 6, but settled for 4.  Temporarily.
